Suggested October 2023 Viomi V3 Max Robot Vacuum Review: Quiet, Powerful, And Smart

The one thing I hate more than vacuuming is mopping. The Viomi V3 Max Robot Vacuum arrived to rescue me. I was excited to take this vacuum for a test drive to see how it navigates different floor types and just how quiet it could really be with powerful suction. Spoiler alert: prepare to be impressed.

Overview of Features

Before I dive into my own experience, let’s take a look at what the Viomi V3 Max Robot Vacuum has to offer. First, it’s actually a 3-in-1 device that sweep, vacuums, and mops. It’ll even vacuum and mop at the same time, which is surprisingly useful and efficient.

To make it easier to navigate rugs, slightly different levels of flooring, different floor types, and so on, the vacuum features Lidar navigation technology with 24 sensors. I somehow feel this vacuum is definitely smarter than me when it comes to daily cleaning.

Some of the most important features include:

Smart and accurate room mapping (can store maps for up to five floors at one time)

Drop sensor

A35 quad-core processor and SLAM algorithm for quick adjustments without ending up stuck or colliding with everything

Quiet performance of just under 60dB

Powerful 2700Pa suction

Auto Carpet Boost Mode

400ml dust bin and 200ml water tank (a 700ml water tank is optional)

MiHome app or voice control with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa

Brushless DC motors for quieter and longer-lasting performance

5200mAh battery for up to five hours runtime in Quiet mode

In the Box

There’s also the charger, which has a neat cord wrap feature. The base pops off to show a hidden compartment to wind any excess cord around so that it’s not in the way of the vacuum.

An extra side sweeper brush is included too. There’s also a brush and dust bin cleaning tool.

Getting Started

I always like to try out a robot vacuum without using the app just to see how it works without any real setup. The instructions recommend charging it first, but out of the box, I was able to vacuum two rooms with no issues. However, I did let it charge for several hours afterward.

I left the mop attachment off initially since the rooms in my initial test have several plush rugs the vacuum would need to climb. All I had to do was press the power button to start things up. Even without the app, the Viomi V3 Max Robot Vacuum went right to work.

The default suction level is Medium, which is actually fairly quiet. Think of it as maybe half the volume (at most) of a standard vacuum.

I could tell a noticeable difference in the suction level as the vacuum transitioned from hardwood floor to rugs and carpet. The automatic adjustment helped clean the rugs so much better than I expected. With cats, kitty litter tends to end up deep in the rug fibers, and this was able to pull it out no problem.

Setting Up the App

In order to mop, change modes, and adjust other settings, you’ll need to download the MiHome app. Honestly, this is my only real complaint. I wish that i included a remote or at least a mop button on the vacuum itself, just in case your Wi-Fi’s down – but that’s a minor issue.

The app is available for iOS and Android. You’ll need to create an account. I only had to find the vacuum in the list of devices. My only challenge was trying to get my phone to switch to the 2.4Ghz network.

My router doesn’t let me manually switch, so setting up any smart home devices is a bit of a pain point at first. However, as with many smart devices, the vacuum only pairs when you’re on a 2.4Ghz network.

I really didn’t expect so many settings and options. Immediately, you’ll see any mapped rooms. The Viomi V3 Max Robot Vacuum had already stored the two rooms I did before downloading the app.

You can change modes, suction level (four levels), and adjust the water volume (the amount of water used while mopping). One of my favorite features is Map Management. Not only can you direct it to a specific room or zone (which you can individually name), but you can also set up virtual walls.

Walls let you limit where the vacuum travels. For instance, I wanted to mop my living room, but not the kitchen. I just put up a temporary virtual wall (which you can move or delete at any time), and the vacuum stayed in the living room. You can also set up boundaries to keep the vacuum away from rugs and carpets in both mop and vacuum/mop modes.

Within the settings, you can view statistics, use a virtual remote, check the equipment levels, update the firmware, set up automations and schedules, and more.

Using the Viomi V3 Max Robot Vacuum

This is the quietest and fastest robot vacuum I’ve ever used. In Quiet mode, it’ll still pick up plenty of dirt and hair. Plus, you don’t even need to turn the TV volume up. It’s just a low hum. Even with the highest suction level, it’s still not really disruptive. I was able to easily watch TV with no issues.

Outside of a few rolled corners, the vacuum climbed over rugs with ease. The wheels transition well between floors. Unlike many vacuums that collide before adjusting the track, the Viomi V3 Max Robot Vacuum rarely bumps into anything, even if you move things around while it’s vacuuming.

When using the lowest water level, the floor was completely dry in less than five minutes. For quick cleanups or deeper cleans, this vacuum can handle it all.

As far as mopping goes, the tank is difficult to empty. Some water does get left behind, but the tank is leak-proof, so that’s not really an issue. The dustbin is a breeze to empty with the one-touch button.

Final Thoughts

Daily cleanups are so much easier with this robot vacuum. It makes quick work of both mopping and vacuuming. Plus, it covered my entire home several times before needed to be charged. And that includes mopping four rooms.

If you want a dependable, quiet, and powerful vacuum/mop combo, the Viomi V3 Max Robot Vacuum is a worthy addition to any home. It’s also competitively priced for its features. Try it yourself for $324.99 with the discount code FUIMVR25 through October 4.
